After abandoning their jobs and fleeing the state like cowards for two weeks, the AWOL lawmakers have finally come crawling back to Austin in complete and total defeat. Their little political stunt accomplished nothing, and now President Donald J. Trump is rightfully urging the strong Republican leadership in Texas to finish the job.
This is a massive victory for Governor Greg Abbott, for the people of Texas, and for the rule of law. It is a powerful lesson for every Democrat in the country: your childish tantrums will not work on strong conservatives.
A Humiliating Surrender
Let’s be clear about what happened here. Dozens of Democrat lawmakers abandoned their constituents to shut down the government because they were afraid to lose a fair vote on a new congressional map. They made a series of ridiculous demands and pledged not to return.
Governor Greg Abbott refused to bend the knee. He called a new special session and stood firm. The Democrats, having achieved absolutely nothing, were forced to surrender and return in shame. It was a humiliating end to a cowardly political ploy.
The President’s Call to Action
President Trump, who was busy brokering peace in Ukraine, still took the time to cheer on the patriots in Texas and urge them to press their advantage.
“Republican State Legislators in the Great State of Texas… just introduced a new Bill for ONE BIG, BEAUTIFUL CONGRESSIONAL MAP!” the President wrote on Truth Social.
He praised Governor Abbott and the Texas Legislature for their “GREAT work” and declared, “It is wonderful to see Republicans everywhere standing up to Save our Country… Please pass this Map, ASAP.” This is what leadership looks like – strong, decisive, and always on offense.
The Democrats’ Hypocrisy on Full Display
As the drama in Texas was unfolding, the stunning hypocrisy of the Democratic Party was on full display in California. While Democrats were screaming about “fair maps” in Texas, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced he would “meet fire with fire.”
What does that mean? It means he is now trying to ram through his own corrupt, hyper-partisan gerrymander to wipe out Republican seats in his state. He is even trying to get voters to overrule the state constitution to do it.
They don’t care about fair elections. They only care about power, and they will break any rule to get it.
Republicans Fight, Republicans Win
This entire episode shows the clear difference between the two parties. The Democrats’ strategy is to throw a tantrum, break the rules, and run away when they know they will lose.
The Republican strategy, led by President Trump and strong governors like Greg Abbott, is to stand firm, fight for what is right, and win. Texas held the line, the cowards came back, and now it’s time to pass a great new map for the people of Texas.
