The city’s radical leaders, who have presided over D.C.’s descent into a “nightmare of murder and crime,” ran to a federal courthouse thinking they could use an activist judge to stop the President’s rescue mission.
Their own police chief, Pamela Smith, filed a hysterical statement claiming that Trump’s plan to bring in federal expertise would somehow be a “threat to law and order.” The city’s Attorney General claimed it would “wreak operational havoc.”
It was a desperate, last-ditch effort to maintain the disastrous status quo. And it failed miserably.

The media will try to spin this as a “compromise,” but the terms of the settlement are a complete and total win for the Trump administration.
While the President’s chosen leader, DEA chief Terry Cole, will now issue directives through Mayor Muriel Bowser, the settlement makes it clear that the mayor is mandated to adhere to his requests.

“The way I read the statute, the president can ask, the mayor must provide,” Reyes conceded.
